Which Way to Go?

How to figure out what to do next - with your help

“Is my newsletter a good idea or should I shut it down?”

They both didn’t hesitate - “That sounds boring - sounds like every other health newsletter out there - I would shut it down!”

That was my question this past Thursday night to some of the most successful people in the newsletter world. I was at a conference in Austin and was on a mission to learn more and answer that one question.

But a few others around the conversation asked me about the metrics….which I shared…which prompted them to say - “that’s really good - don’t shut it down.”

So if you’re reading this - can I ask why? Do you have a minute to reply and tell me why and if yes - what topics do you want me to cover to continue to make this of value to you?

Here’s why I’m asking that question

I started this newsletter one year ago - 52 editions in the books. 🥳

I do this for a few reasons:

  • I think newsletters are a fantastic way to build a community of like-minded people

  • I needed a creative outlet - thanks for your help with that 🙂

  • I wanted to see if I could really create and publish a newsletter - every week!

  • I’m obsessed with trying anything that will improve my health - (so I only share things that I have tried and would recommend.)

I’m happy to say that all those boxes were checked this past year. Now I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next.

I’m working on something I’ve been dreaming about for nearly 20 years - creating a place for people to experience all the things I write about each week.

But that has meant years of research on what would make that dream become a reality. It meant visiting the competition, finding land, getting approvals, rezoning, finding an architect, engineers, funding - did I mention funding? So that’s what I’ve been working on.

I’m excited to say that an hour ago I got a call from the architect who said he has all the final round of plans in hand that he is reviewing.

But the reality is - as with any new venture - it’s not as easy as ‘If you build it they will come’. Reality says you gotta tell people - and tell them often.

So I’m chewing on ways to bridge the newsletter with this passion project I’m working on. I went to Austin with that question and added ten more questions to that question.

One of the notes I wrote down from others with successful newsletter communities was “beg for feedback” - so consider this me begging. I would love to know why this newsletter is of value to you (if it is) and what topics you’d like me to cover. I love the creative outlet and I’ve loved hearing from readers each week.

I look forward to keeping you in the loop as things move forward - this will be the channel through which I will share the most intimate details.

Thanks for your encouragement and support along the way.
