Here are the essential needs of a cell and how you can help

It’s simple - well kinda…

About a decade ago, I had just cowritten a couple of books with a good friend of mine and we enjoyed going around and sharing about what we had learned and how others could benefit.

We had a go to presentation where we listed out the 5 needs of a human cell. I think there may be a few more today but more on that in a later newsletter.

It was a fun season of life, and a grueling one traveling and doing my best to motivate people to make healthier choices.

I’m a fan of distilling ideas down so that they are easily understood - and with that - what are the basic needs of your like 37 trillion cells on a daily basis?

Think of your body like an advanced civilization with technology we don’t yet understand. How your microbiome works, or how the nervous system generates energy often times from mere thought and emotion.

The needs of your cells are simple:

1 - Stable Environment

 temperature, PH, ions, pressure

2 - Oxygen

3 - Water

4 - Nutrients

5 - Waste Removal

Your brain is the citadel or HQ of the body and through it all signals are relayed. It wasn’t until recently that I have started to learn about how much your thoughts - whether positive or negative influence the capacity of your cells to do their job.

If you are negative and anxious - the energy is lower and waste removal doesn’t happen as efficiently - prolong that over time and you will likely get sick. Eat poorly and overtime you will likely get sick. The body is amazing - but it is designed to function optimally based on the essential needs of the cells:

1 - Keep the body temperature moderate - this may be by adding or removing clothing or adjusting thermostats or time in and out of the sunshine.

2 - This may mean you need to really think about the deep breaths your body needs to get oxygen flowing and the posture you have to keep the lungs doing their job correctly.

3 - This may mean being intentional about eating foods with water in them i.e. fresh raw foods or pure water instead of chips or candy with no water or soda which the cells weren’t made to be bombarded by.

4 - Your cells need nutrients from the soil - from a plant. This is best derived from the source. Animal proteins are second best. But food from a plant - like a manufacturing plant - is not what the cell needs.

5 - Waste Removal - After your body makes use of all the good things above - it needs to discard of the waste. Ideally this is minimal if you have eaten healthy - but imagine the additional burden when we eat junk food and highly processed food with chemicals and preservatives etc. - the body has a double burden now to not only get rid of natural waste but of toxic waste. Exercise, sauna, sleep, deep breathing and the list goes on for ways to help your body remove waste.

Help your cells do their job. When you do, they will serve you with health and longevity. When you don’t, they could revolt - what happens next is why you don’t want that to happen…

Disease - Good or Bad?

I have a crazy opinion - disease is your body’s attempt to save you from sudden death. It’s like mercy and forgiveness are built into the DNA and your body does all it can to save you from toxins clogging you immediately and death being the result.

Let’s take cancer - Cancer is when good cells who when given the right conditions follow the laws of the body - they do their assigned job. But what happens when we abuse them, ask more of them than they are capable of, drown them in soda and sugar and too much oil and preservatives which they were never intended to deal with? They lose their identity, they get desperate, they forget their job and start acting crazy, drunk, foolish and yet still crave nutrients and want to live - but now they want to live in chaos. Cancer is the result.

I deduce from my homework that helping the cells again - giving them the conditions to live optimally will help build up the immune system once again to restore order.

People you and I know and love are often faced with a choice when they hear the dread cancer word - use chemicals that may kill every cell in the body (cancer and healthy) in hope we survive or go the ā€˜natural’ route. Too often though I see people who think natural is do nothing.

Choices

You have a choice - to help your body or to hurt your body. It’s not that you want to feel pain or get sick - it’s that we opt for short term pleasure instead of long term health and happiness.

I love skittles or sour patch kids or you name the short term pleasure - but I also know that I’m hurting my cells and will have far more negative consequences that outweighs the 10 seconds of blissful pleasure of tasting the rainbow.

The choice is yours.
